ABOUT THE DINNER
This dinner is part of a dinner series hosted by Alex of Citrine in collaboration with Roland Bui of Com.unity. Under the guise of this Dinner Party Series, what we're really striving to do is provide a platform for exciting culinary talents, artists, and brands to converge into one experience. What to expect? A star-studded Chef sourced by Roland Bui, ambiance curated by Citrine, and a live-music act for entertainment.
ABOUT SARA RHODIN: NAJLA
NAJLA is a Palestinian diaspora cooking, hospitality, and art project founded by Sara Rhodin. It's the story of her great grandmother waking up before dawn to begin cooking for the day, of her great uncles rolling grape leaves while arguing about peace accords. It’s tables covered in embroidered cloths, lamps glowing behind tilted shades, stove tops simmering with hummus, smoke detectors set off by peppers cooked directly on the gas range. It's her son mashing eggplants with his hands for mutabal, fighting with his sister over pomegranate seeds. NAJLA is a celebration of a family's ambition, love, disappointment, joy, loss, anger, and longing, and the recipes that bind the generations together.
ABOUT KENAN RABAH: MAJDAL BAKERY
My name is Kenan Rabah and I have been baking professionally for the past 6 years… and unprofessionally since I was able to reach my mom’s countertops. My position as head baker at Lost Bread Co. took my passion for baking to new levels, giving me the skill and confidence needed to start my own venture. Majdal Bakery has been a dream of mine ever since I moved to the United States in 2015. I come from the Golan Heights - Syrian territory under Israeli occupation. Due to this political situation, most of the people who live there don’t have a legal nationality. It simply says “undefined” on our documents. My dream with Majdal Bakery is to present this amazing culture and its food in the best way I know how to, which is baking. I hope that I can help “define” Majdal in this way. Maybe you’ll take the journey with me :)
ABOUT MILED FINIANOS: HABIBI SUPPER CLUB
Habibi Supper Club is rooted in Lebanese heritage that prevails no matter where in the world founder Miled Finianos lands. Miled debuted Habibi as a culinary experience to bring together his digital community @MiledEats, as physical gatherings that emulate the warm feelings stirred by tucking in to the elevated cuisines of rural and rustic Lebanon. With every supper club, Miled aims to replicate the set table of his beloved grandmother where delicious, heartfelt meals always awaited for him, and now you.
